Project Overview
Microsoft Nuance Dragon is the world's leading speech recognition software, trusted by professionals in healthcare, legal, and business sectors to transform voice into text with unmatched accuracy. Working directly with Microsoft, Scalexa architected and implemented the complete Azure DevOps infrastructure for Dragon's licensing management system—a mission-critical platform that handles license validation, activation, and management for enterprise customers worldwide.
The Challenge
Building an enterprise-grade licensing management system on Azure required tackling several complex challenges:
- Design and implement a highly available licensing management system on Azure

Azure Infrastructure Design
We architected a highly available Azure infrastructure using Azure App Services, Azure Functions, and Azure API Management. The system was designed for auto-scaling to handle peak license validation loads during software updates and deployments, ensuring consistent performance regardless of demand.
PostgreSQL Database Architecture
We implemented Azure Database for PostgreSQL with read replicas, automated backups, and point-in-time recovery. The database architecture was optimized for high-throughput license validation queries with proper indexing, connection pooling, and query optimization to handle millions of daily transactions.
CI/CD Pipeline Implementation
We built comprehensive Azure DevOps pipelines with multi-stage deployments, automated testing, and blue-green deployment strategies. This enabled the team to deploy updates multiple times per day with zero downtime and instant rollback capabilities, dramatically accelerating their release cycles.
Web Services Development
